Subject: Poetic tensions in the works of Juan José Saer
Advisor: Prof. Ruth Fine
Abstract: I explore the works Argentine writer, Juan José Saer, focusing on the tension between the locus of the writer and that of the reader; between creativity and rewriting; between linear and circular notions of time and between poetics of totality and poetics of fragmentation. I examine his writings as a wide, intertextual web divided into three periods: early, mature and late. I study the way in which each poetic tension is expressed in each period.
