Subject: Yosef Be'rabbi Nissan – His Poetry and his Place in the History of the Piyyut
Advisor: Prof. Shulamit Elizur, Dr. Yehoshua Granat
Abstract: Yosef Birbi Nissen is a classical Paytan who has not yet received sufficient attention. I want to examine his place in the history of Hebrew calture - the midrashim he knew on the one hand and the bards he influenced on the other hand.
Bio: I have studied my B.A. and M.A. in Jerusalem, B.A. in Hebrew literature and Hebrew Language, M.A. in Hebrew Language. I am interested in Medival Hebrew poetry, in its internal development, its language, and its affinity to the Midrash.
