Research Topic: Between Ottoman Rule and British Colonial Rule: Public Health in History of Haifa, Tiberias and Nablus in 1902-1934

Abstract: My PhD dissertation examines the history of public health system in the cities of Tiberias, Haifa, and Nablus during the late Ottoman era and the British Mandate (1905-1934).The study will focus on the role of municipal institutions in the development of local public health, medical institutions and various infrastructures. The study of public health system in Haifa, Nablus, and Tiberias during 1905-1934 contributes to understand improvements in health and sanitations conditions during the late ottoman era and the British mandate. Such as improvement health of population, relationship between improvements of public health and epidemic outbreak. My search contribute to Middle Eastern urban studies by focusing on the impact and role municipal institutions, which administered urban daily life, played in public health. One of the important dimensions of municipal research lies in the relationship between central administration and local administration, cities and their rural hinterland, and the relationship between different urban communities
Bio: I received my Bachelor Degree from Middle eastern History Department in Ber ziet University. In 2019 I submitted my M A thesis from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, that focus on public health and sanitation in Haifa during British mandate 1920-1934. Both of my Master and doctoral projects focus on public health as a lens to shed light on local history of Palestinian community. My research as a part of research group project about the regional history of medicine in the modern middle east, which funded by ERC. Interested in Social and urban History, My doctoral thesis shed light on local transformations Between late Ottoman Rule and British colonial Rule through lens of Public Health in Haifa, Tiberias and Nablus 1902-1934.
