Subject: National Security, Sexuality and the CIA in the Late Cold War.

Advisor: Professor Moshe Sluhovsky, Dr. Ronny Regev

Abstract: My research concerns the connections and relationships between (homo)sexuality and security in the American Age of National Security. I aim to uncover the methods of the CIA for suppressing gender-sexual difference among its agents and for controlling their sexual activity especially after the Lavender Scare, which consisted of the explicit and total purging of homosexual employees from federal organizations. Additionally, I intend to analyze the ways in which these methods were negotiated and achieved in security, medical and judicial discourse.
