Subject: Visual Protest in Nineteenth-Century Paris.

Advisor: Prof. Gal Ventura.

Abstract: My research examines the connections between modern revolution, urbanization, and visual culture in post-revolutionary France, with a particular focus on Paris in the first half of the nineteenth century. My thesis centers on the July Monarchy and explores how caricatures, posters, and especially graffiti functioned as visual tools of urban protest—using the city itself as a medium for resistance, while simultaneously reflecting and challenging the existing social and political order.
