Subject: Contemporary Folklore in Northern Japan after the 2011 Tsunami.
Abstract: The folklore that is still emerging after the 2011 disaster is a significant component of the reconstruction process of the stricken area - Tōhoku. In my research I will examine the impact of the event on the local folklore, through rituals and traditions, and the way in which they are shaped in light of the local identity that was shaped following the traumatic event. I'll try draw the relationship between the developing identity and the local folklore, and how these are significant in the local rehabilitation process.
