Subject: The Right That Must Be Rethought: Freedom of Thought in the Age of Surveillance Capitalism and Instrumentarianism.
Advisor:
Abstract: In my research, I will compare the central discursive mechanisms used to suppress freedom of thought in 20th-century totalitarian regimes with those employed by contemporary data corporations to exert influence over human cognition. Through this comparative analysis, I will examine whether, and in what ways, the mechanisms utilized by data corporations infringe upon freedom of thought as defined by constitutional-legal standards.
