I am a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania's Ancient History program focusing on Hellenistic and early Roman Judaism. I am particularly interested in the political institutions of Judea during this period, and how various local communities, both Jewish and non-Jewish, responded to the rule of Jewish regimes, and to the self-presentation of specific rulers. I take an explicitly interdisciplinary approach, examining historiographical, archaeological, and biblical exegetical evidence.
