Jack Joseph and Morton Mandel School for advanced studies in the humanities, cordially invites you to a series of online lectures on the subject:
Roads and Their Meaning "Between reality and imagination"
It is worth noting that the series will be held in Hebrew.
On Thursday, June 17, the final session of the lecture series "Maps and Roads: "On Roads and Their Meaning" will be held.
The formation of roads is a complex phenomenon that is influenced by a long list of factors, both physical and human, that operate in the geographical space. The roads are dynamic in nature - they change their shape and meaning according to changing historical circumstances, social and cultural changes, geopolitical struggles and more. Beyond their immediate role as traffic routes, they have to reflect traditions and worldviews. They are an important part of religious practices such as pilgrimage and processions as well as the establishment of the common space of past and present ethnic and political communities. Road research studies questions from various fields of knowledge, from archeology and art history, through history and science and religions, to sociology and anthropology.
