Subject:  The Galilee during the Hellenistic Period (4 – 1 c. B.C.E): Geopolitical Changes and Settlement History in Light of the Fortified Sites.

Abstract:  My research will focus on the archaeological phenomenon of non-urban fortifications dated to the Hellenistic period in the Galilee. The historical accounts permit only a fragmentary reconstruction of this formative timespan in our region. The subject in question will provide a more nuanced picture, clarify the historical events and their impact on the region and enrich our knowledge about territories subjugated by the Hellenistic kingdoms.
