Prof. Daniel R. Schwartz specializes in the history and historiography of the Jews in the Graeco-Roman period. He has published translations and commentaries to the Second Book of Maccabees (2004 in Hebrew, 2008 in English) and to Josephus's Life (2008), and currently he is working on such volumes on 1 Maccabees and on the last three books of Josephus's Antiquities.  He has also published monographs about Agrippa I, Josephus, and ancient Jewish identity, and a hobby in German-Jewish history recently resulted in a volume about Philipp Jaffé (1819-1870) and collection of his letters.
