The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School for Advanced Studies in the Humanities offers assistance in funding travels abroad for research or training in the 2025/26 academic year.
The scholarships are intended for Members of the Ph.D. honors program of the Mandel School who have advanced to “Stage B.” In exceptional cases, travel during Stage A will be approved.
Priority will be given to students who do not have other research budgets to support travel (Mandel Scholion, Azrieli).
The scholarship is intended to fund a wide range of purposes, such as examining material findings, working in archives and libraries, and learning a foreign language.
Participation in conferences: Requests for funding to attend a first conference should be directed to the Authority for Research Students. Within this CPA, it is possible to apply for funding to attend an additional conference, provided that participation is active (presentation or poster).
Required documents for application:
1. Scholarship application form (on the scholarship website).
2. A detailed description of the purpose of the trip, it's necessity for the research, and a well-formulated work plan.
3. A breakdown of expected expenses and the total amount requested, only according to the following categories: flight, accommodation, intercity travel, health insurance, registration fees, entry to museums/archives.
4. A letter of invitation from the hosting institution/researcher (if relevant). It is possible to apply for funding to attend a conference before receiving the invitation letter, provided that it is submitted to the program coordinator prior to the trip.
5. A recommendation letter from the advisor explaining the importance of the trip.
Please note, starting from the 2025/26 academic year, travel grants will be paid as a designated scholarship.
Flight tickets will be purchased by the student. In order to be covered for any eventuality, it is strongly recommended to work with the university travel agency – Diesenhaus. Reimbursement prior to travel can be received for flight tickets, accommodation, and course registration, upon presentation of receipts (and provided these items were approved). In addition, boarding passes must be submitted within one month of returning from abroad, along with a report on the activity abroad.
Please note that applications are submitted via the scholarship website only: https://scholarships.ekmd.huji.ac.il/Pages/default_he.aspx
