Elisheva Baumgarten holds the Prof Yitzhak Becker Chair for Jewish Studies and teaches in the Departments of Jewish History and History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a social historian who studies the medieval Jewish communities of Northern Europe. She is currently writing a social history of medieval Jewish marriage as part of a broader study of daily life among the Jews of medieval Europe. This is her third year co-directing the summer school with Steven Weitzman.
